Our #junkicrush: Ferris D. from NYC

Meet our newest #junkiecrush, Ferris D. You probably recognize her if you're a NYC regular who hits up those early a.m. classes. Like ((305)) itself, Ferris is originally from Miami, but this babe has been living in Manhattan for ten years. When she's not working at her finance job or werkin' on her fitness in class, Ferris is busy chasing around her three-year-old son.

HOW DID YOU GET HOOKED ON ((305))?

I’ve been exposed to dance cardio my whole life. When I was a baby, my mom would take me to the studio with her, and I would sleep in my little seat in the back while she danced. I’ve taken class at that same studio recently and couldn’t believe how many of the same women still work out together every week, 30 years later.

I was fortunate enough to Google "aerobics NYC" after a particularly uninspired trip to the gym about two years ago. I took my first class at Complete Body the following week and cancelled my gym membership a few months later.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVE WORKOUT OUTFIT TO WEAR TO #MAKESWEATSEXY?

High-waisted tights. I cringe for the day we go back to the 1999 Britney Spears low-cut pants look. Not cute.

WHAT SONG MAKES YOU WANT TO GIVE IT YOUR ALL IN CLASS?

One of these days, I am going to pass out during "No Filter." It's such a great song and amazing choreography. I get way too excited and forget to breathe.

EARLY BIRD OR NIGHT OWL FOR MAKING SWEAT SEXY?

I’m a 7 a.m. girl through-and-through. We have an incredible little community of crazy people who have been showing up three to four mornings a week for years. These are the MVPs of ((305)); no one misses a beat.

IF YOU COULD BE A BACKUP DANCER TO ONE SUPER DIVA, WHO WOULD IT BE?

Duh, [NYC instructor] Bobby Gouse.

IN ADDITION TO SOME KILLER DANCE MOVES, WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM ((305))?

Fitness is NOT optional. It’s mandatory. I used to prioritize certain things above working out. I don’t do that anymore.

Working out is my sanity. It’s where I see my girlfriends and we catch up. It’s the one hour a day when I answer to no one. Once the lights go down and that music starts … there’s nothing else like it.
