Seeking Instructors in Washington, D.C.

Overview:

We are seeking our next badass instructor to teach our lively dance cardio classes. No fitness experience required. Looking for energetic, smart, creative, and fun-loving dancers. We only consider applicants with dance experience who can prioritize 15 weekly hours during training. We can work around your full-time work schedule, but you must have a job where you can be somewhat flexible for 5 weeks during training to commit to our training schedule.

A position as a ((305)) Instructor is the perfect compliment to your career and to your life. Our classes are fun and lively to teach. You dance, jump, and bring life to the classroom, inspiring non-dancers to move their bodies. Educationally, our extensive training program -- at no cost to you -- also offers a unique foot in the door into the world of fitness that costs trainers thousands of dollars to attain on their own. The hours are consistent and part-time. We are highly supportive of artists, working professionals, and traveling schedules.

To Apply:

Please send a resume and headshot to asst@305fitness.com to schedule an audition. Your headshot can be something simple from your iPhone or it can be a professional shot.

The subject line should read “Instructor Audition” and should include your name. The email should contain:

  • A brief (one paragraph) description of why you are interested

  • Resume attached (pdf preferred)

  • Headshot attached (jpeg preferred)

Auditions:

Once we review applications, selected candidates will be invited to audition. We encourage all invited candidates to take our class before auditioning to get a sense for the style.

Small group auditions will take place in D.C. in late July. Candidates are slotted into 15-minute small group auditions. There is nothing to prepare for the audition other than having taken class in advance. We simply want to see you do basic moves (grapevine, step-touch) in your own style, as if you were leading a class. Please bring sneakers/street shoes and clothes you are comfortable moving in. No make-up or costumes, please. If you'd like to get a sense for our look, please check out our video on the homepage.

Training:

Training begins in late August and it will be a five-week long intensive training. Approx. 15 hours of weekly commitment. You will have three weekends spent in New York City (Friday night through Sunday night) to train with our New York team. While much of training will take place in the morning and on weekends, you must have a job where you can reasonably take off approx. 15 hours during the week for 6 weeks. These 15 hours will mostly be in the AM before work and on the weekends, but we may occasionally practice midday. No stipend is offered during training. Over 6 weeks, we offer fitness education worth thousands of dollars at no cost to our trainees.

Training will include unique educational workshops with our master instructors and other professionals covering not only the class format, but also motivational and psychological training, anatomy, CPR and marketing and business strategies. We want all instructors to know our vision for the company and learn how to market themselves as their own personal instructor brands.

Benefits:

It is our full intention to hire everyone who completes training as an instructor. Once hired as an instructor, you will begin with 3-4 classes per week. Your class schedule will ramp up over the course of a few months, eventually teaching 6-10 classes per week. There are a number of opportunities at ((305)) including the unique ability to branch into fitness, to work at an exciting start-up with like-minded people, and the chance to inspire others to move their bodies. There is lots to learn so if you are curious and open-minded, this is the right job for you!
