Instructor Spotlight: Kelly Ingersoll

Kelly aka The Bitchin' Bombshell is bold, irreverent, and lives life out loud. She comes from a long line of strong, Massachusetts hard-headed feminists, so you can’t tell this girl what to think, how to act, or whom to befriend!

Be ready for a bold, give-no-f*cks environment, with a super challenging, sweat-dripping class. Kelly was first a ((305)) junkie before becoming an instructor and her genuine passion for ((305)) shines through in every moment. She will make you feel electrified, empowered, and full of joy.

Kicking things off, how long have you been teaching at ((305))?

I started teaching ((305)) officially in September! It has been such a wonderful learning experience to be at the front of the class instead of a junkie. I still LOVE taking class from all of the amazing instructors in Boston, and now when I take class it not only provides me with an opportunity to dance and be a WOO girl, but I’m also always trying to learn from them on how to make my class as amazing and inspiring as theirs are!

How'd you hear about ((305)) and what drew you to audition?

Hannah and Tom and I all grew up in the same town; when ((305)) was looking for it’s first round of Boston instructors, my friend Brittany suggested I try out. Having no idea what it was, I started as a member of the Twerk Study, instead of auditioning and I FELL IN LOVE! Like seriously, life changed.

I had never felt more body confident or physically strong ever in my life. DJ Nora was the push I needed to audition to be an instructor and I will forever be grateful to her for her loving words and encouragement.

I love seeing the same faces every week and welcoming new people into the crew.

YAS! C'mon junkie turned instructor! So, when you're not at ((305)), where can we find you?

I am teaching dance, taking barre, hanging with my husband and family, calling or texting my sister to get me through my tiny dilemma of the day, drinking wine, cleaning, or catching up on sleep. Some may say simple. I call it “living the dream.”

How do you get in the zone for teaching?

I get in the zone by warming up my booty (thank you Sadie for this great tip!) and talking to junkies! I love seeing the same faces every week and welcoming new people into the crew.

I also eat a banana and 2 spoonfuls of peanut butter about an hour before class. Gives me just enough kick to get through without my guts feeling terrible.

What's a random fact that most people wouldn't know about you?

I have the Red Sox tattooed on my hip. You see my other tattoos in class, but that one is the choice that my 18 year old self made to declare “I’m from Massachusetts, motherfucker”.

I FELL IN LOVE! Like seriously, life changed. I had never felt more body confident or physically strong ever in my life.

What's your current favorite ((305)) song to teach or dance to?

Omg when I hear “Woman” start to kick in, I absolutely lose my shit. I think about my mom and how she is SUCH a strong woman. Seriously, she ran a business for almost 30 years, raised 3 kids as a single parent, beat cancer and a brain tumor, and still kicks ass every day. Having her in class when that song comes on is amazing.

Describe the ((305)) Boston junkies in a few words!

Holy shit! They're committed, FUN, silly, powerful, athletic, and ALWAYS push themselves to be better. I love them. ❤️

If you could dance with one artist on tour or for a show, who or what would it be?

Lady Gaga. I already know the Telephone Dance thanks to my brother who learned it the week the video came out and was nice enough to teach me. Thanks bro :)
