Hey BOO! Tell us a bit more about Halloween in the drag community!
Drag and Halloween are separate but similar concepts, but I feel a lot of gay guys use Halloween as an excuse to dab their toes in the drag bag, which is great! Any reason to f*ck with gender norms is A-okay with me. I relate more to drag queens than to big Halloweeners, cause I dress up for parties year round just for fun and don't limit creative costumes to an annual occurrence!
Duh, why limit yourself to one day each year! What’s your favorite part of Halloween?
I dress up all the time, so it's nice to have everyone else meet me on my level. It makes me more, collective fun. Also, I love when my friends dress up with me! And while a couple of them do on the reg, even more get into it for Halloween.
Who do you look to for your Halloween inspo?
David Mason Chlopecki is the designer of a gay fetishwear line, SlickItUp, who brings it so hard every year. Obsessed. All my outfits are usually a collaborative efforts with my bffls, so s/o to them for being my ongoing inspo! You know who you are my bb's.
BFFs who dress up together, stay together. Tell us, what are your three fave costume ideas?
1) Slutty Nun. Who doesn't love an IRL oxymoron.
2) Mother Nature. You can make this sexy or scary or whatever!
3) "Dating Naked" (aka nude looks with your friend/partner). Reality show throwbacks are so fun
Note: These are all previous costumes of mine!
Speaking of previous costumes, what’s your all-time fave?
Two friends and I dressed as "thotnets" for Mardi Gras by the Sea themed Carnival in Provincetown, Massachusetts this past August. We draped ourselves in fishnets with ken dolls (aka thots) all caught up!
OK spill -- what are your plans for Halloween this year?
I'm going to LA to visit fellow ((305)) instructor Tom F. along with 2 other friends and we're dressing in full drags as the Fantanas!
Yaaaasss! Tell us, what can’t-miss parties are you looking forward to this year?
Ladyfag and Susanne Barsh throw some of the most fun parties in New York for crazy lewks year-round. It's where all the modern day club-kids go to showcase their wearable creations. So it's fun to see everyone else turn up along with the regulars on Halloween! Both parties are pretty gay, but not exclusively so. Everyone is welcome!
In LA, I'm going to this big gay party called Halloweenie, but the Boulet Brothers (kind of like another Rupaul but more for the goth, horror crowd) throw a big party every year that is always epic.
Any last tips or tricks?
Lit costumes take a lot of time and work! I start putting together looks far in advance, adding little things here and there. Amazon Prime is your best friend and while it can get you a good costume in a pinch, your best looks will be turned when you start acting on ideas in advance.
