BECCA: MS. MINI MOBILIZIER
Some say "movement is medicine" and for Becca, these words could not be more true. Becca has a dual-degree in PT - Physical Therapy (oh hayyy docta) and Poppin n Twerking (booty shakin FTW). She works as an acute care physical therapist at Brigham and Women's Hospital, where she is a healer and educator for patients each day. Outside of PT, Becca shares her love of dance with Boston Ballet’s Adaptive Dance program and now, ((305)) Fitness.
Growing up, Becca struggled with body image and self-esteem issues until she discovered dance while studying at Duke (hip hop, jazz, Bollywood/Bhangra, African, you name it!). Through movement, Becca learned how to be confident, sexy, and fierce AF both on and off stage.

Girl!, welcome to the ((305)) fam!! We gotta know -- which instructor have you been crushin’ on?
Michelle! It was my first ((305)) class and it was love at first sight. I was drawn to her incredible energy, spirit, and good vibes. Without her, I wouldn't be here on this crazy and amazing journey.
Ugh, we love Michelle too! She is everything. Hmmm, If you could have lunch with three people, dead or alive, who would they be?
Michelle Obama, Beyonce, Sorah Yang
Michelle Obama, can we join?! Besides dreaming of lunch with Mrs. Obama, when you're not teaching at ((305)), where can we find you . . .
Saving lives at the hospital, wine n' chilling with Ben & Jerry's and my roomies, or twerkin' to Rihanna.
Saving lives!! Damn! How lucky are we?! But, let's get a lil more personal. We all have a type. If you had to describe the people you've dated, what are they like?
Nerdy intellectuals with a dorky sense of humor and usually terrible pick-up lines.
Who doesn't love a nerd?! Speaking of which, are you single, taken or it's complicated? Don't hold back!
Taken! We met on Coffee Meets Bagel -- I let him beat me at a game of H.O.R.S.E. on our first date and the rest is history! He has the best smile and he made an effort to get to know me even while in Chile. I was taken aback by his startling honesty and direct communication. I highly support a no B.S. approach to dating, and he had no issues asking "tough" questions and cutting through superficial small talk starting on day one.
Sounds like a man! Can we meet him?! Let's go back in time. . . what kind of student were you growing up?
A goody two-shoes and teacher's pet who was deathly afraid of getting into trouble . . . consequences of growing up in a strict household with tiger parents.
Oh no! Hope you were able to break the rules sometimes! Tell us, what’s a typical day like for you?
I lesson plan and teach at one of my favorite jobs in Boston -- the Adaptive Dance program at the Boston Ballet. The program provides accessible dance education for individuals of all backgrounds. Specifically, we teach classes for individuals with Autism, classes for individuals with Down Syndrome, and Inclusion classes for individuals of all abilities and needs. We are committed to providing the opportunity to dance to anyone who has a passion for movement. I have the privilege of teaching classes and I love every second of play, creation, and discovery that occurs in the studio. I learn more from my students each class than I could ever teach them.
So, Becca, we've all got something that defines our identity. For some of us, that's being a woman, gay, a person of color, a creative. What is something you identify with and how do you identify with it?
Dance is at the core of who I am. It is through movement that I learned how to love myself, become more comfortable and confident in my skin, and develop connections and relationships with other people. Not only have I gained a deeper sense of identity through dancing, but I have also discovered new passions, including my current career path as a physical therapist. I am so lucky to be in a field where I can merge my love of movement with teaching and helping others. I am able to witness the healing power of movement on a daily basis in the studio and in the hospital.
You really are the mini mobilizer! Name three ways you want to make people feel in your class:
Empowered, Fierce AF, Like a Boss
and last but not least, why do you love ((305))?
((305)) is everything that I've been looking for -- a crazy family and community filled with unapologetic, fierce, sassy, and sexy people who will dance it out anywhere and everywhere. At ((305)), we live our best lives, we challenge ourselves to grow, and we love every part of who we are. What's not to love?
